Not Quite Icarus

April 2, 1961

Dermot has been tasked by the metas who saved his life with establishing a foundry for developing his level of high end tools. In doing this he has jumped back into the capitalist system with great relish. Recently, to gain access to some resources and favours for moving forward, he assumed an identity to undertake some contract work for the government. In particular, he was tasked with developing a higher level of mobility for the anti-meta suits adopted from the Iron Knight design.

What the government didn’t count on, however, was Dermot’s relish for attempting what is supposed to be impossible. Working on a single prototype of the Iron Knight hardware, he found a way to alter a great degree of the uranium core away from the weapons systems and away from weapons. The government, however, was not comfortable with limiting the firepower capability of their hardware. Project supervisors decided to scrap the project, as a result. Dermot, hearing the news, refused to let a piece of his work be destroyed by bureaucrats. To accomplish this, he staged a break-in resulting in the suit being stolen and flown off. Somewhat surprisingly, the suit actually responded well in this trial by fire and did not plummet out of the sky. The effect? Dermot both looked good to the government by solving their problem, albeit in a way which was not adopted, and got ahold of a prototype powered armour suit.
